Halloween Fancy Dress Duathlon / 5k run / Kids run

Fancy dress duathlon has to be cancelled due to bad weather. Apologies to all concerned – its intended as a bit of fun and would be no fun in this weather.

There were a few people (chickens!!!) who didn't dress up and who wished they had once they saw everyone else in their outfits so there is no excuse this year.

As the chicken said to the librarian - book, book!

After the success of the last 2 year's Fancy dress Duathlon / 5k run / kids fun run, we hope there will be another good turnout for it this year on Sat. 29th October. We hope that people will come along in Fancy dress (doesn't have to be Halloween theme) for the laugh but if you are shy or want to take the race seriously you can participate in proper sports/tri gear.

It will be on the same course as our official duathlon (see home page for info. on this).

We will also have a 1.5k fun run/walk for kids and parents etc. which will take place when everyone else has gone off on their bikes.

In the last 2 years we had Superheroes of all kinds, clowns, roman centurians, King Henry VIII, witches (some who cycled a tandem), princesses, scary monsters, and lots more. Tom Casey kept everyone entertained with his bag-pipes the first year. (Photos on Facebook - see 1st album)

We had about 60 participants each year from our own club, Carrick Tri club, friends and fellow athletes and raised money for charity.

Either way, it will be a fun training session and a great kick start to the winter season. Entry fee is by way of donation to a charity (to be decided). All friends and family and kids welcome to take part. Over 16's only for the duathlon.

Starts at 10.30am in Fenor. NOTE: HELMETS COMPULSORY

If anyone doesn't want to participate or is injured and doesn't want to miss out on all the fun, we will need a few people to volunteer to marshal on the day, (also an excuse to dress up in fancy dress)
