Re: Ironman Austria 2011 **Warning** think about this before reading
Just to throw another option into the mix. Ironman Regensburg (Germany) is a new race on Aug 1st. It's scheduled for Aug 7th next yr according to race office but date not official yet.
With weddings and work, I can't enter Austria or Roth so I'll prob enter this if I'm going long next yr. Heard that the race location was modeled on Austria so could be fast or scenic or both!
It won't sell out in mins like Austria if there were a few others interested in going?
By the way who'll be the 1st Lady IM from WTC?

Actually Slatts I thought it was a good joke! At least he managed to steer clear from the double entendra's (no idea how to spell that) as you rarely do!

Jesus gav and I thought my jokes were bad................
Don't mind which one either so long as its easy to fly into and out of. No renting a camper and making a holiday of it next year if I'm doing one. Hoping to nip out on a friday with the bike on the car and come back monday so una won't notice where i've gone.

What date Austria, what date Roth?
How much Austria, how much Roth?
A thought
If you do Austria, you're an Ironman right?
If you Roth, are you a Rothman, if there's 20 of us will we be 20 Rothmans???? Will we

As stated before, my leaning is towards Roth, though I'm easily swayed. Especially given the price of Austria, those capitalist swine
There are Kona qualification slots at Roth, right?

Austria or Rothe??
Heading on holiday and have to decide which IM or non-branded long distance race to enter (not that it matters!)
Would everone post what their intentions are so that no-one is excluded, unless they want to make their own way.
I am happy really to do either, will follow crowd. Could return from holiday and be entered to Im, scarey!! But at least I do not have the pleasure of doing one this year. You lucky things!!
Anyway I will be away so will be unable to post so have fun with your decisions.

The cost of the entry for Austria 2011 is €425 ..... a bit epensive, up about €70 on last year. Roth was €300 last year, cant see the price for this year any where yet. Entry opening in 3 weeks for Austria, going to stick with Austria myself for the moment anyway see if I can get in. Prob going to pay a bit more for a M dot race, would'nt be surprised if Roth is up a little for 2011 as well. Some one doing the Ironman distance for the first time and maybe only time might like to do the offical "M DOT" race or not!........... just some more food for thought.

Could be wrong but I think gavin gave us a handout on roth last year. I wouldn't mind doing either (if I'm allowed).

I think I'd probably prefer to do Roth as well, for much the same reasons, and because the atmosphere is supposed to be amazing, but I guess I'll follow the crowd, really....

Roth vs. Austria
Thinking of Quelle Challenge Roth instead of IM Austria, reasons:
Not monopololised event that is purely brand led and really is capitalism at its worst!!!
In mid July so less pressure on school holidays
Cheaper
I think wave start so less broken noses
Opinions, need someone to do loads of research, no pressure Gavin!

I must admit I did look at the Ironman Austria website at luchtime today, and checked when it was on even though like the rest of you I have absolutely no intention of doing it. At the moment Im thinking a failry definate noooooooooooooooooo. I hope to go again in 2012 if I can find one that allows Zimmer Frames. For the rest of us how about the round Ireland cycle rest next year , we can put in a team. As Martin says Im just putting it out there. Ha Ha
