Aerohed, as you can see I'm taking my responsibilities very seriously :-) so I have opened a new category for IM 2011.
Good luck to all with their decision making :-)

We need to get Dillonger to put up a new section on the Forum now...Ironman 2011.
Credit cards are amazing! Ferry tickets, Euro Tunnel tickets, Sat Nav (Europe), Travel Insurance, camp sites, etc, etc. etc. ...all for 2010 and now it starts all over again with 2011....It will just add an extra dimension to Switzerland now...I'm sure next year's entry will cross my mind at a few stages in 2 wks time..

Regensburg 2011
And I'm in €435 all told, once the bells and whistles were attached. The credit card looks like a clock out of a Dali painting - http://www.nonprints.com/UploadPic/Salvador%20Dali/big/clock%20melting%20clocks.jpg
Anybody else going to be busy on August 7th, 2011?
(Spins? Slatts? Aerohead?)

Why not sign up for Regensburg as well, Martin - sure you'd have a whole month to recover...

My options / choices are;
Frankfurt - 24th July (way too early for me re. hols & was non wetsuit this year so definitely out...)
Austria - 3rd July (prob a bit too early for me re. hols)
Roth - 11th July (a Monday so prob should be 10th July - also prob a bit too early for me re. hols)
Regensburg (Germany) - 7th Aug (This appeals to me the most - date suits me the best and if the course is based on Austria as per rumoured then it sound good...and it's in a scenic part of Germany)
Taking all this into account - my choice is Regensburg!

Will be going for Rothe, may be we will all go but it suits school holidays. You all should get jobs as TD's with your reluctance to get of the fence!

Does Roth sell out quickly?
Unfortuantely the entry for 2011 opens at 10 am on 26th July. Yes! that's the morning after IM Switzerland. I can see myself sleeping in that morning (for some reason) and thinking 'feck Roth' should someone try to wake me....
Check out this link
Apparently it doesn't sell out as quickly as the IM events and it's wave starts, no scary mass start swim, like the sound of that....

Bit more expensive than I thought it would be.
Its very close to Frankfurt making getting there very easy and cheap though. Our flights this year to frankfurt were €120 each way including bikes.

That's as close to a yes from Pauline as we have seen to date. She didn't say that she wouldn't do it.
As for Helen, ok I have to admit that getting Shane to cook the dinner could set the club back 3 years :-), that's not doubting Helen's ability to go the distance though.
I know one man who nearly fell off the bike when he saw Helen ahead of him on the bike in Kilkee.
Siobhan K and Siobhan D have to have IM in their sights and what about Ocos? Could she become the Queen of Kilmeaden, we all know who the King is :-)
Una Slattery is a good each way bet, but the thought of Slatts cooking the dinners would probably rule that out :-)
Smart money on P Lambe :-)

He will have to do a lot more than just cook the dinners....I'd never have enough time to get him up to speed on all he would have to do if the roles were reversed! I'd be thinking of 2015 at least!
I think Siobhan K. made a few interested comments over the weekend about IM and not forgetting Siobhan D. also who was showing interest last year....
At the moment, apart from Stefan, it seems to be all this year's Ironmen who are talking about next year's races...are there any more new bodies interested?

Dillinger! You of all people are aware of the importance of a loyal vocal supporter during an ironman event! I do believe that I played a part in your successful outing at the distance even though we had not met prior to the event! I know my place and its on the sidelines! In other words - I am still only swimming over and back to the rocks in Dumore east and think the 3.8k could be a challenge for me.
My guess!
Helen (if Shane will agree to cook the dinners)
