That was fun. In the same sort of way as beating yourself with a splintered stick is fun. The wind had Martin doing his best King Lear ("Blow wind, and crack your fiery cheeks") and reduced most of the rest of us to simple expletives.
More to the point though, a big thanks to the 'support crew' out on the roads - I'm convinced I could have knocked 5 mins off my run time, only the craic was so good at the aid-stations. Thanks for all the work - it made the way seem a little shorter and a lot merrier

As nice as that sounds Marco, I dont think is as how it sounded if you heard it around Kimac . Good session all the same, well done everyone. Big thanks again to the support and Siobhan for hanging around Tramore for the day.

Yes, a Big Thanks to our support crew who were up early to organise us all, cheer us on and make sure we had plenty water, gels and food etc. It really made the day much easier for us all.. (Esp. Thanks to Helly for making my porridge )
A tough day, esp. with the strong wind but a brilliant performance by everyone. I think we can start the count down with a bit more confidence now...

Re: Half Ironman Distance Training Day
It was a great day on Saturday...I know us spectators really enjoyed it all. Fair Play to everyone for doing the course...80 lengths of the pool is tough enough but the wind on the bike was terrible by all accounts! It's a bad sign when you are looking for your easy gears to pedal down the hills!! A few comments heard afterwards included "I nearly gave up the will to live" and "I was nearly crying at one stage" (I won't divulge who made the comments..). The one story we heard from everyone at the Water / Aid station (Tuck Shop!) on the run was how bad the wind was on the bike. It's all good training though...I have put some photos up on Facebook...
