Ironman training Empty Half in April

Post by emmk Tue Mar 06, 2012 3:36 am

Most of us are doing the fink plan.
I will be trying for a Friendly half on the 31st, 1st or 7th, 8th due to the plan is cycle for 4 hrs run 45 min on Sat
and more of it on Sun we already almost cover the distance in training and gives a good bench mark for
a propper half 4weeks later.
Thats just my plan we can start the Olympic and half together see who wants to do what.
Stephen said splash is free in the mornings so start early and have the pool to ourselves.
What ever suits most people

Myself and Pio have ordered a set of Fuerto Bici wheels (88 rear and 60 front) @ £535 stg plus £ 30delivery.
Their website is fuertebici.com if you want to have a look.

Not around for Paddys weekend, but would like to do the half training day in May. was looking myself at Easter, may Bank holiday and June Bank holiday for the really long cycles. I am doing the Joey Hannon so I have my Olympic done but if yer organising a olympic Ill do it anyway. I was hoping to get a very long one in April , one in May and finish of with the last long bike early June. Daryl heard your buying some nice wheels, what kind and how much. heard you got a good deal.

Well Mark,

I'm the same as David so l'll be around for most of the planned training. It depends on what day over Patrick's weekend your planning the long cycle. I might not be able to get out for 5 or 6 hours on the day but I can tag along for most of it.

Pio.

HI Mark,

I should be ok for the long spin on Paddy's weekend and the Olympic in April.
Is Emmett not organising a Half distance training session in April?

Well Mark

Im definitely on for the long spin on Paddys Weekend and the Olympic training day.
A few of us will be competing (oops I mean taking part!) in Tri an Mhi middle distance on May 12th, so
I might do some portion of the half distance training day with ye. Maybe swim and bike and leave out the run.
Other than that it all sounds good.

Cheers
David

Well lads and lassies,

When and where are we meeting to discuss long spins/runs/training days ect??? Anyone around this Saturday evening for a coffee and chat??? I am also planning on long bike on Saturdays (from this Saturday) and long runs on Sundays. While I don’t mind running solo, a bit of company when the runs get that bit longer might help shorten the road!!!

Well Tom,

I see your getting your days mixed up again. Myslf and David are going out in the morning and are also hoping to do Carrick on Sunday. It shouldn't be too hard if David's with us Basketball

Top garage at 9.30 for 2.5 to 3 hours. You can come up with a routh cause you know the countryside a lot better the me.

Tom, typically I intend to do the long bike on a Saturday and the more the merrier, although the pace may be a bit easier than that recently as energy must be kept for the long Sunday Run. As we get on to the Time Trial bikes maybe next month sometime, we can go out at intervals as we did in the past.

The more the merrier on the bike, we should post every week to see who will be around, on the run however I'll be doing this from home so not sure about meeting up for that!

You, talk Tom no way. Very Happy

We'll have to get together so and see what we come up with. I'm only starting to hit the 3 hour bikes and 1.5 hour runs now so company is always good. Myself and David have been doing a bit together when we can so the more of us the better. We should let each other know what our plans are for the weekends at least when we are doing most of the long stuff.

I am trying to plan out the rest of my Ironman training, I think there is about 19 weeks in total, but would like to talk to all the other "long people" to see what races they are doing, what plans they have for Tramore Half Ironman days, long Cycles, long runs so that maybe we could do some of them together. I have dates in my head for 6 hour bikes and 16-20 mile runs, but a bit of company would be great. For me anyway, I need someone to talk to.
