Hayden was on the fence between cheering for Tipp or Waterford (although the scales were definitely tipped in favour of Tipp. after their last meeting!) but never thought he would be rooting for Kilkenny!

Seeing as the hard work is all done by now and there’s not too much PRO ’ing to be done I bring you:

Waterford Tri Club Ironman Regensburg Competitors (and observers) as they might line up in the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship:

Antrim (Dots Connelly) : Recently back into the championship after a couple of years in the wilderness. Has appointed an outside manager with serious pedigree.

Dublin (Stephen Doyle): Newly established as a major force. Good league campaign but recently upset by injuries to key players. Due another big display by the end of the year. Goes well at the start of matches.

Cork (Seamie Doyle): Near professional training regime with fitness levels to match and serious sporting tradition. Has been known to go on strike in periods of transition.

Limerick (Gavin Quinlan & Brian Slattery): Drafted in outside manager with proven track record after disaster in last year’s championship. Unorthodox training methods. No championship tradition to speak of. Has been spotted in the pub after training.

Waterford (Ger Hearne): Crowd favourite, has been known to make it happen on big occasion. Doesn’t get on with management.

Clare (Marc O Cathasaigh): Horse of a team. Known for ferocity of play during matches. Has recently sacked bainisteoir and is attempting to lure Limericks management. Will probably have to appoint Davey Fitz though.

Offaly (Emmet Kelly): Young up and coming team. My win all Ireland within a in the few years. Has gone well in other codes. Agricultural.

Wexford (Barry Lambe): Small skilful wristy hurlers (as such). Always has one big performance per year. Has been shown up by the camogie team in last couple of years.

Galway (Noel Ryan): The enigma from far away. The form team after slow start to year. Outside bet to win all Ireland. Has a weakness for supermacs.

Kilkenny (Shane Scadding): The old dog for the hard road. Back on form after shock to system late last year. Known for savage, if uncomplicated, training methods. Has at least one more year left in him.

Tipperary (Martin Kirwan): The current champion. Has come good in last few years after spending the mid 2000’s out in the cold. Has already had one huge performance this year. Will he pull on the jersey and take on Kilkenny come championship Sunday?
