Re: European duathlon champs
I'll second that Norma, a great race. Thanks for all the messages and especially to the noisy gang who made the trip down to Limerick. The support gave us such a lift.

Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes and text messages. The race was a great experience and we all really enjoyed the day. There was a great buzz and atmosphere and it was brilliant to see all the green 'IRL' trisuits out on the course (and I felt proud and privileged to be wearing one). The weather was perfect, organisation of the event excellent and we had brilliant support from our waterford tri club members. They kept us going on all the laps and were everywhere on the course, so a special thanks to Siobhan, Ann, Michael, Tom, Helen, Pauline, Ned and Caroline for all the cheering and encouragement and flags.
P.S. Copperman, my bike was sparkling - it was so clean!

Re: European duathlon champs
Great day out in Limerick yesterday. Approx 300 participants in the European age-group champs. Was an early 9am start, with a few waves, 5mins apart.
Participants on the day were: Barry Lambe, Shane Scadding, Norma Goggin: Supporters on the day were: Pauline Lambe, Helen Whyte, Tom Casey, Siobhan Kennedy, Ann Hennebry, Michael Carroll, Ned Power, Caroline Russell (who was also acting as TI official).
The 1st 10k run was 4 laps, the 40k bike was 5 laps and the 2nd 5k run was 2 laps so we were hoarse from shouting on the lads (and anyone else's names we knew) for the duration. They passed us twice on some laps so we were kept busy!
Shane finished 24th overall in 1.52.17, 6th in his age-group.
Barry finished 69th overall in 1.58.29
Norma finished 9th in her age-group in 2.33.55

Chris Mintern took part in the Junior Elite race in the afternoon. 5k run, 21.6k bike, 2.5k run. He finished 2nd Irish Junior (out of 6), 11th overall (out of 28) in 1.00.53. Being an elite, they got lovely blue carpet & individual spaces with their names displayed. Full results here: http://results.racetectiming.com/Results.aspx?CId=74&RId=10002&EId=5
I will put photos up during the week when I get a chance.
Well done to them all.

Have a great race everybody! Shane will you be holding hands with Barry due to Martin's absence? Barry remember you are your own person you do not have to hold Shane's hand unless you want to! Norma that bike had better be sparkling for your European competitive debut! Chris just don't beat Shane or we will never hear the end of it.
