Sat the 5th of May as a warm up for Valentia.
Same format as before but harder faster no waiting no drafting.
Kinda the way you go any way Metal Blaster.
Thats my plan any way

Just wondering when all the Fink followers are thinking of having the actual club 1/2 Ironman as I missed the friendly version??

Re: Friendly Half 7th or 8th of April
Fink called for an Olympic but 11 was the magic number for the half on Saturday.
The day started off cloudy and got better from there.
Thanks to Darryl we were supplied with power bar Everything and most
People ditched their prepacked race nutrition for the real deal. Thanks again.
The swim format was swim 1.9 of till someone did!!. Brianne from Carrick Tri was
First to finish after about 2km. While some of us were still going.
T1 some “competitors” having a good wash, hair dry with the blowers and it wasn’t the only girl racing.T1 could be improved on.
On the bike where we cycled pretty well in to a head wind all the way until Carrick. The train of riders moving quite well regrouping at different locations on route. We only lost one rider who the pace was a little hot for but he did an out and back for him self opting to stay on flatter ground. Slatts had a bit of a nightmare but it would take an extra thread to say all the things that went wrong for him or maybe a blog.
T2 regroup change and run.
Most of us ran the distance one man determined to finish had to walk for a while but he opened up his first triathlon with a half ironman so not bad for a newbie.
The pace was great and by then the weather was quite warm some may say hot.
Great challenge so early in the training and Well Done to All

Re: Friendly Half 7th or 8th of April
Hi Emmet, Count me in too. I can organize some some of the Powerbar Gels/bars being used in Austria for the lads.
Let me know how many people are taking part and I will bring out some to use on the day.

The story so far
This seems to be the Plan unless things change.
Meet Splashworld Sat 7th at 08:30 sharp.
A bit of smack talk, friendly smack talk get bikes and cloths ready
Swim start 09:00 sharp after the little sharks leave their swim training. If we are allowed earlier great.
Swim should take 30 to 40min
Cycle 90 to 100km route to be confirmed but Tramore, Carrick may be turn off onto the N25 Carrick, up soft side of seskin, Lemybrien, back Cork road. Drafting and chatting is allowed depending how safe you feel on your bike and if you can keep up.
You may try cycle the route this weekend.
Run in and out Tramore road. Leave your own food, Gels, Water, power horse energy drink where ever you like.
Finish in splashworld car park about 5 ish hours later
Finishers might even recieve a cadbury creme egg.
We might have counters for the swim and if your better half wants to cycle while you run 21km they can and feed you all the way.
This is open to everyone I have a friend going to give it a go he is doing Frankfurt.
Its not a race just a chance to try food, drink, race wheels and put TT helmet on

Friendly Half 7th or 8th of April
Dates and availability.
The 7th or 8th of April given that the 9th is a bank holiday.
The format is swim 1900 to 2000m or get out of the pool when the majority get out.
I think Splashworld might be in use Sat the 7th from 07:00 till 09:00.
Sunday may be a better day but we could start earlier or for 9 if that suits the people who do not like to get up to early.
This is info from Stephen. Closer to the time we will know more. I am not sure what the king fisher times are.
Cycle 90 to 100km route to be confirmed but Tramore, Carrick may be turn off onto the N25 Carrick, up soft side of seskin, Lemybrien, back Cork road. Drafting and chatting is allowed depending how safe you feel on your bike.
Run is in and out Tramore, Waterford road. Or how ever far you feel.
The idea is to enjoy, practise race food and pace cover the distance not race that will be in May.
What do you think? Those who want to do an Olympic that day can but if the pace is not to hot and
you are covering the distances in training almost together any way try the half.
Who would be interested? What date time suits you best?
I found it helpful last year.
