Re: Dunmore East Ironman Swim
Congratulations to everyone who did the 3.8k Ironman distance swim last weekend. A fabulous day for it, although the lovely calm waters close to the beach did not reflect the 2 foot swells and rough sea which lay ahead of them out further.
There were over 70 participants and the 1st 3 males out of the water were our own clubmembers, in excellent times, with our other members not far behind, all delighted with their times, especially the Ironmen guys, who now feel a bit more confident about their upcoming races.
1. Chris Mintern 54.44 (not bad for a 15yr old!)
2. Stephen Doyle 57.44
4. Mark Nugent 61.44
20. Paul Wyse 1.20.52
25. Tom Casey 1.21.58
34. Marc O'Cathasaigh 1.24.41
35. Barry Lambe 1.25.06
38. Michael Bowes 1.27.30
39. Derek Barrett 1.28.17
41. PJ Tobin 1.28.57
43. Colin Fanning 1.29.37
46. Gavin Quinlan 1.30.27
51. Martin Kirwan 1.32.25
52. Ide McEnery 1.32.41
53. Kieran Eaton 1.34.31
67. Liam Power 1.57.04

That's 16 potential Ironmen/Ironladies....

Just been informed by Colm that they will take entries on the day but it will limited to 100 in total so to guarantee a spot, either pre enter or arrive early to register.

Like Tom I'm not too concerned about time, just want to prove to myself I can do the distance...

Registered to do it myself, should give a good indication of the time for the real event.

I was talking to Colm Breannach tonight and he said that they will not be taking entries on the day on Sat. for the swim so you need to enter on-line before it fills up or closes.
Registration will be from 9.30am - 10.30am on the morn in the Ocean Hotel in Dunmore East.

If only we could convince Kilkenny to start using chocolate hurls, Slatts
That sounds a nice dip, and sure your swim taper is the shortest of the three, according to Uncle Joe, so I wouldn't be worried about proximity to the 25th. Think I might sign up for that one!

Re: Dunmore East Ironman Swim
Not that I'm in any hurry to swim 4k in a swimming race or anything but I wouldn't have thought its too close to the ironman at all.
I want a toblerone now. One of the massive ones the size of a hurl that they sell in airports.

V. interesting.
Fellow Toblerone fans, is this too close to Zurich date or is it in fact ideal as the last long swim before taper time.
Thoughts please?
