Debating whether to enter, think its the same weekend as Ballycotton so all you runners need not reply!

Races '10 Empty races 10

Post by Kieran Tue Mar 09, 2010 12:45 am

I'm being a total bore this year and will probably do few tri's before the UK race due to work commitments. It'll be the summer road race series for me, I think. Possibly the Waterford adventure race, that looks like fun. I'll probably take my annual trip to the Liffey Descent in September, if any of you fancy something a little exciting.... Check out www.canoe.ie and look at the video clips of previous races to get an idea of what it's like.

Keep me posted on the half ironman training day, I could do with that!

My God!! That was the most nerve racking 15mins ever!

The site kept crashing for the Kilkee entry. I got so muddled that I entered myself but with Shane's details and by the time I got to enter Shane it had almost filled. Got him entered by the skin of his teeth!

So the 2 of us are in. Who else got in??

There are 2 more chances to enter
Sunday 22nd March 8am (200 places)
Friday 30th April 8pm (100 places)

My hands are still shaking!

See below for details of a new Triathlon this year

*************************************************************************************

New Triathlon for the calendar, with the hope of setting up a new triathlon club in the area, in the near future.

The inaugural Lough Allen Triathlon, set in the lake side town of Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, takes place on Sunday, 30th May, 2010.

There will be two distances for both the experienced triathlete and the beginner, who is up for the challenge, in this the fasting growing sport in Ireland.

There will be a kayak option (two person, sit-on-top) available for non swimmers. It will be open to both individual and relay teams, with many prizes for the overall winners and age-group categories.

The A course will comprise of 1000m swim in the pristine waters of Lough Allen, followed by a 47k road cycle circumnavigating the lake. After which there will be a 8.5k road run to finish.

The B route will be a 400m swim or 1000m kayak, followed by a 20k road cycle, with a 5k run to the finish line, by the lakeside in the grounds of the Ramada Hotel, Drumshanbo.

Online entry now open Runireland.com

Postal registration forms to follow

I'm only doing Valentia, Kilkee, Wickla 200 & Kenmare (and the holiday in the swiss alps).

Oh and have we agreed a date for the training half ironman, 8th May?

What I'm going to do is

Limerick (olympic fo those who are interested)
Valedntia
Tri Athy
Wicklow 200
Kilkee

and that other thing in Switzerland

Many races will be opeining soon so keep an eye on their websites for dates and times. Some of the upcoming dates for races are:

Valentia Sprint - opeining Sat 30th Jan @ 9am - this will fill v.fast so be sitting at computer b4 9am!! (Active Europe)-(we hope to have this as one or our club weekends away races so be sure to enter)
North Tipp Sprint - opening Mon 1st Feb @ 11am - will also fill fast so enter immediately. Pool swim
Tri Athy - Sprint & Olympic - open already - Oly. on Sat. and Sprint on Sunday - see website for details
Black Sod Olympic - Open already
Fingal Sprint- opening early Feb - Pool swim
Joey Hannon - Sprint & Olympic - opening Sun 7th Feb @ 8pm - will fill quite fast so enter immed. Pool swim
Schull Sprint - Open 20th Feb @ 10am - will also fill v fast so enter immed. (filled in a few hours last year)
Kikee Olympic - Phase 1 open 8am Mon 22nd Feb - will fill in a few mins so be prepared!
Limerick Duathlons - enter on the day

Most races use Active Europe so make sure you know your password etc in advance.

Also, there are new rules with Triathlon Ireland this year. You cannot buy a one day licence on race day. It needs to be done online up to 3 days in advance.

1. Go to www.triathlonireland.com
2. Go to the 'competition' area
3. Select 'one day licences'
The deadlines to purchase one day licences are:-
* For races being held on a Sat, Sun or bank holiday: midnight the Thu before race
* For races being held on a weekday: midnight the day before the race
Note: It will not be possible to purchase one day licences after the above times or on the race day."

As you know, all club members are supposed to be members of TI anyway, but just in case you plan to race soon, you need to apply for your TI membership a few weeks in advance to guarantee having your card on race day. Otherwise the above rules will apply.

Mallow 10
Dungarvan 10
Ballycotton 10
Sonny Kiely Memorial 10
John Treacy 10
Valentia
