Re: Valentia Registration!!!
Just to let you know that the temp of the water in Lahinch today is a "balmy" 12.2, thats a full degree warmer than last week so a little bit of sun and we should be roasting. The mackrel will be jumping out of the water half cooked! . Dillonger it wont be the same wiyhout you in Valentia, where will I get my motavation. (How do you spell that). By the way I told your brother that we would all give a hand after the race to search for his Mojo , which he says hes lost.

Re: Valentia Registration!!!
Having driven to Killarney a few times I would recommend Cork-Macroom-Killarney-Kilorglin-Kinghtstown (via ferry)
Roads are much better so less stress!

What you need now is a 3 wheeler, help to keep you stable in the cross winds.

Out of curiosity, are people using TT bikes or road bikes for Valentia?

Re: Valentia Registration!!!
Good luck to everyone in Valentia this weekend. From my experience, you'll know you're having a good race if you can stay in the centre of the road at the end of the first climb, although even if you can stay in the centre of the road, don't be surprised if Tom Casey passes you :-) Enjoy.

Valentia Weekend
Well everyone, the time has come to resurrect this thread again!
This time next week, we should all be finished the race in Valentia....fingers crossed! Trying to decide if it's too early or not for a glass of wine....
The race doesn't start till 12.30pm so we should get a bit of a lie in. Full race briefing can be found here www.jakera.com/triathlon/briefing.pdf
Don't forget - if you don't have a TI membership card, you need to purchase your one day licence before Thursday through Triathlon Ireland website. You can't get it on the day! Also, make sure you don't forget your TI card or you won't be allowed to race either.
There are 5 houses booked in Knightstown on Valentia Island, 4 of them are in Glor na Farraige (on the outskirts of the town, road to the left of the ferry stop) and 1 house in the town (the 4 people staying there know who they are, everyone else is in Glor na Farraige)
Costs €50 each for both nights in total. If people want to give me the money before next weekend that would be great as I won't have to be minding so much then when we're down there. (I will be at swimming Mon & Wed nights if that suits anyone...)
If everyone wants to bring down food for breakfast on the Sat. and maybe for lunch after the race, we can then go shopping for stuff for dinner on Sat. evening and do a big "Cook Up" like last year. There are not too many places to eat dinner on the island so its much easier to cook ourselves..
There are 40 of us travelling down, some staying in campervans and some lording it up in a hotel.

According to the AA website, its 162 miles to Valentia island. They say to allow 4hrs for the journey. We hope to be there about 6pm-6.30pm.
Going by last year's weather where some people ended up in the ambulance after the race with hypothermia, and others (including some of our own members) were close to it, I would advise bringing warm clothes to cycle in, maybe a jacket, just in case.
Just one more swim before the race. Hope it's warmer!

Re: Valentia Registration!!!
I have booked a 5th house as we ran out of beds...there are 40 of us heading down for the weekend so far, staying in either the houses or campervans. I have one or 2 spare beds at the moment so if anyone else wants to come down the weekend for the craic, (even if you are not doing the race) you are more than welome.
Just give me a text

Re: Valentia Registration!!!
After a few frantic phone calls today I eventually managed to book some houses on Valentia Island for the Triathlon....Most of the houses are already booked up!!
They are in "Glor na Farraige" in Knightstown (where the race is based, and where we stayed last year) so once you are there and parked up there is no need to move again for the weekend (apart from shopping for our dinner on Sat. nite..)
I have booked 4 houses so far, they each sleep 7 people (and we may need a 5th) for the Friday and Saturday nights, at a cost of 50euro in total per person.
If anyone wants a bed for the weekend, whether you are racing or coming down for the support and the laugh, and hasn't text me yet, please do so as soon as possible to ensure you get one...
