I did indeed. The 2011 winner did it in 8:38 - I'd say he's some man to roll a hose. I won't be winning any prizes

Challenge (Ironman) Roth
Well it's definatly that time of year a lot of the Long distant races are over and entry for 2013 is open!!!!!
So I'm heading to Challenge Roth which is "OPEN" tomorrow morning 10am!!
I realise there is a crowd heading to Lanza but the heat, wind and terrain isn't for me, well not yet!
I've been enformed that the down hill race of Roth (Stefan) is a great course, scenic and fast, well hopefully!
It has the largest attendance of spectators in the world of any long distant race i.e the crowds will hopefully carry you around the course, obviously not physically, that would be cheating!!
I know a good few of the established IM in the club are going to enter, but if you are a newbie and thinking of doing a long distant (IM) race this would be a great first one!!!
Gavin I've seen you suffer in the tropics of Ireland, so this is definatly for you!!!!
(I cannot guarantee the weather!!!! )

Don't know if I'm willing to brave the heat at Lanza but the whole holiday thing could be a selling point. Roth not a holiday destination I've heard Ruth rave about.
Based on recent motivation, thinking of hanging up my IM kit altogether and joining the Wednesday night chess club in Phillies. there's no such thing as intervals in chess, right?

Lanzarote is the one for you spins, bring the family for a week, do the Ironman and get brownie points at the same time. Spins junior can get used to the warm water while he/she is out there. Mother will have a nice relaxing break(except for the day of the race) Its all good.

Dear Spins
Stand in front of a full length mirror naked
Clench your muscles
Jump up and down a few times
If you jiggle you need to sign your fat arse up for an ironman
yours in sport

Re: Ironman holidays 2013?
I've been caught!!!
Ruth was using my phone and she now knows of the forum.
That said, she wasn't entirely dismissive of the whole 2013 thingy. But then again, I haven't totally decided I'm gonna go next year. TBH the way training and motivation is going the last few weeks, dunno if I'm too bothered.
Might sign up just to be in and then see how my life is when 'the package' arrives.... Ruth really liked me reffering to my child to be as 'the package' BTW (not)
