Re: Guillimene to the Beach
Thinking about later this evening, about 8 o'clock-ish. Probably meet as usual in front of the T-Bay. Benny, I'll pm you on my number.

Weather and sea conditions look suitable again tomorrow. It was a good long swim the last time, about an hour in the water. Any takers?

Re: Guillimene to the Beach
In the end, 'twas only meself and Mark Daly braved the savage seas. A gorgeous evening for it, mind you.
We set off from the Guillimene, gathered ourselves again at the pier before heading to Ladies' Slip and then swimming parallel to the beach as far as the lifeguards' hut. The tide was falling, so while the crow might have completed the trip in Spins' suggested 2.4km, it definitely felt a lot longer as the fish swims, and we spent at least an hour in the water (it seemed to take about 15 minutes to swim past the pier, anyway).
That said, it was a really good swim; I'd even venture to state that it's a bit more fun than laps in Dunmore, or maybe it's just the change being as good as a rest. I'd definitely be up for it again on Friday, or any other time, if the sea conditions are right.
Only be careful - I could hear Brownestown Head calling me seductively across the bay

Re: Guillimene to the Beach
I measured it at c. 2.3km in a straight line.
Won't be able to do it today but if the same exploit is on offer on Friday, I'd be up for it.

Guillimene to the Beach
Weather is fantastic, sea conditions look benign and I'm sick of looking at the tiles on the bottom at Splashworld.
Anyone up for swimming this evening from the Guillimene / Newtown Cove in to the beach? Saw 2 fellas at it last night, and it looked deadly (in the cool sense - they weren't drowning or anything). 6 o'clock? Any takers?
