Sat 13th sounds perfect!! What time? about 3pm? Gives us time to do our long run and change and eat before going there..

We had another puncture incident today..not me this time Thank God (it was Siobhan Kennedy) so I didn't feel too guilty just holding the wheel while John Lyons did all the work (again). He did give us a crash course on how to change the tube but we didn't actually do it ourselves so probably long forgotten!

If this date and time suits, I will let everyone know during the week. Will give a chat on Triathlons/duathlons also, passing on all our knowledge and experience.

You're right...and it IS something we keep saying we must do. Especially at this time of year when punctures seem to be more prevelant. We can look and see if we can find a free afternoon (some Sat. maybe?) and meet somewhere with our bikes (the Park?) and each have a go at mending a puncture etc.
Might also be a good time to tie in a chat with newbies about what they need for a triathlon. A few years ago we had a chat in the Park with new members and showed them all the race gear (tri suits, race belt, boxes, elasticated lock laces, etc.) Its all totally new to some people.

Ok this is new territory for me but this was a genuine and sincere offer! There was to be no highlighting of peoples individual struggles with tubes or indeed tyres!

Is this aimed at me?? Changing the inner tube is the easy part...it's getting the tyre off, getting the tyre on, and actually pumping air into the wheel is the hard bit! And that's if its the front wheel..nightmare if its the back wheel...trying to get that chain thingy back on over that cassette thingy. All that oil all over your hands and under your fingernails, making sure you don't touch your dirty hands off your nice jacket!!
What we ladies need are some muscles, whether our own of someone elses...Thank God for John Lyons last Sunday!! Or I may have been looking for someone in a cape..

Having heard the difficulties on Sundays cycle I will offer to go through 'changing an inner tube' with anyone who is interested. Let me know who if anyone wants to do this, could include some other basic mechanics if people want. Just saving myself from having to don a cape and fly to anyones rescue!
