Excuse you, Slatts - I was never on the fence! I've been to Amazon, and Uncle Fink is coming to visit very soon!

Martin, Dots - be careful doing an ironman so early in the year: ye might get dangerous thoughts later in the season Basketball

I've got permission to give Roth a go next year. That said I'm not 100% about the fitting the training in but I'm planning on signing up next month when it opens - I think they have fairly good refund policy!

That should knock Marco & Spins off the fence anyway.............

(sub 10 this time by the way Very Happy )

As a recent finisher of Lanzarote ironman - it's not all that hard - the bike course is not to difficult - some climbs here are just as hard-great downhill sections on the course. swim is nice apart from the hectic narrow start area- the run is flat- it's all about the weather on the day.definitely nothing to be scared of for level of Any triathlete in Waterford t c clown

I like Spins idea of 2014 but wouldn't consider telling Kate anything for at least 12 months - lull her into a false sence of security!!

was planning for Roth 2014. By planning I mean dropping subtle hints to Ruth and hoping to subliminally brainwash her in to believing she agreed to it, maybe even suggested it. If I was to move that date a year forward, I'd have to accelerate and alter the brainwashing process. Dunno if it'll wash though with a package on the way in September and I don't mean from CRC. We'll see..... Put it this way, I'm certainly interested in the conversation.

I like how this is building! I'm hoping to go long again next year as well, and like Aerohead, the Roth date suits me better because of my fixed holiday dates. Could it be that there's a crew assembling Question

As Ger might say ......

If I was thinking about it....Due to my employer standardizing my holidays this year it looks as though Roth is my only real option. Also, Roth being the cheaper option suits my means at the moment.

I'd have no chance of being able to afford a trip to Kona so I don't have to worry about qualifying from an M dot race. Smile

If I went mad and signed up it would be Roth.
But I think I will start my short course career.
Like Maca go short to race long.

2013 Alanya ETU Triathlon European Championships on the 14th of June. Great training for Roth.

Who wants to join me??

I cant see why Celina wouldnt Honeymoon in Roth we might stay in a hotel instead of a campsite.

I think the later race date in Roth would probably suit me too. Uh oh this is gaining momentum....

If I was thinking of going again next year (and if Una is reading this, of course I'm not, I wouldn't dream of it I love you ) I'd be thinking Roth

I'll see how it goes in 5 or so weeks. I might be selling a lot of equipment or be asking for the green light from the Mrs.
I have looked into Roth and have to say it is tempting. Much cheaper entry, easier to get to and an unreal fast course I believe.
I'll keep u posted on how the
Motivation is for another year of no life and being asked if I've been sick with all the weight loss.

Ironman holidays 2013?

Post by LambeB on Fri May 25, 2012 7:28 am

Lads and ladies, it's that time of year again. The rumour mill is in full swing with talk of Ironman 2013. I'll probably be the first one to back out but a few 'usual suspects' have got me thinking.

So far I've heard talk of Austria (June 30th) and Roth (July 14th).

Here's my tuppence worth on both races:

Speed of course - Roth slightly quicker? Austria probably fastest Mdot
Access - Not sure but Roth probably a bit handier to get to
€ - Roth has cheaper entry
Swim start - staggered in Roth so might suit weaker swimmers
Race scenery - Austria is fantastic but I've heard Roth is pretty nice too
Holiday location - Has to be Austria, must be best Ironman venue in Europe
Spectator friendly - supposedly much easier for spectators in Austria compared with Roth
Race atmosphere - Roth has to be the winner in terms of the number of spectators and race atmosphere
Ease of entry - Roth doesn't fill out as quickly as Austria but the 2012 crew could enter us for 2013
Weather conditions - probably on a par

So folks...
Who's interested or at least contemplating an Ironman in 2013?
Are any of the 2012 Austria crew considering entering again in 2013?
Any of the Switzerland/Regensberg gang getting itchy feet?
Anyone thinking of losing their IronVirginity in 2013?

And finally, which race...
